Bharti Airtel Launches Mobile Application Store Airtel App Central

Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has launched Airtel App Central, a mobile applications store that will allow Airtel mobile customers to access over 1250 apps across 25 categories for their business, games, books, social networking and other needs.
These apps would be available for download on more than 550 compatible devices.
Airtel mobile customers can access the apps by visiting Airtel Live on their mobile phone and browse into App Central or SMS app to 54321 to receive the URL. There is no need to use a credit card to purchase the app as the cost is automatically added to the customer’s mobile bill or deducted from his available talk-time.
Airtel has extended its decade-long partnership with US-based CellMania to create a platform to reach developers – the Airtel Mobile Content Provider Portal.
Mobile application creators have been invited by the telco to submit their applications at this developer platform and it appears that CellMania will be powering the entire back end – right from the applications submitted by the developers to the AppCentral storefront.
Developers registering with CellMania’s platform can expect to receive 28 percent of revenue share of the total sales of the application.
